FOR REGULAR PAPER VISAS

    print and sign twice (on the 1st page below the photo exactly in the box and as in passport)

    in original, at least valid for 6 months after journey, minimum two free pages

    in original, no glasses, ears must be visible, one picture must be uploaded into the online application form, american size, photo requirements

    travelled to the last 6 months (not required in HAMBURG)

IN FRANKFURT: All applicants in Frankfurt must submit a registration certificate (non-German citizens an extended registration certificate). For Employment Visa, Student Visa all applicants must also appear in person at the Visa Application Center once (due to the submission of fingerprints).

E-VISA

German citizens are also entitled to apply for a so-called E-Visa (electronic visa) online. It is possible for tourists, Business travellers (casual business), conferences and medical treatments.

Tourist visas are valid for either 30 days for two entries, one year or 5 years for multiple entries. Business visas are valid from the date of issue for one year and multiple entries, visas for medical purposes are valid for 60 days from the date of entry and for a maximum of three entries. 

An E-Visa must be applied online in advance (maximum 120 days but no later than 4 days prior to planned entry) and is only valid for entry via one of the following airports and seaports:

E-visas cannot be renewed or modified and not be retroactively converted into another visa category. You can travel to India with a new passport and the still valid visa that is entered in the old passport. The prerequisite is that you are travelling with both passports and that the visa is not damaged or invalid.

The passport must be valid for at least 6 months upon arrival. Temporary passports and children's passports are not eligible for E-visa applications.

Additional documents may be requested. Therefore, if possible, please also have flight and hotel reservations and, in the case of business visas, e.g. information on previous employers ready.
