For a regular visa, every applicant must appear in person at the embassy in Berlin.

German nationals and other nationalities can also apply for a visa on arrival online before their trip. At the point of entry, the traveler's personal data will be recorded (e.g. fingerprints) and the visa entered in the passport. Entry with this visa is only possible at Felix Houphouet Boigny Airport in Abidjan.

The following documents must be carried when entering the country with a visa on arrival:

Proof of payment of the visa fee
Entry permit from D.S.T.
Original passport (valid for at least 6 months)
Proof of yellow fever vaccination
